Korcula Old Town

Our hotel is just around the corner from Korcula Old Town, which claims to be the birth place of Marco Polo in 1257. The golden years of the old town were between the 13th and 15th century, although the island, which was initially settled by the Illyrians, was a Greek colony as early as the 4th century.

The center of old town is built in the formation of a fish bone with a main spine with curved narrow streets (alleys really) on one side to protect from cold winds in winter and straight narrow streets on the other side to bring in cool winds in summer.
