Biking on Korcula

Yesterday we cycled 54 kilometers on a beautiful clear day, with a cooling breeze that kept us from getting too hot. We started in Kortula, and ended at the ferry that took us from Donince to Orebic, back in the mainland.

Our route took us through the small villages of Zrnovo, Pupnat, and Cara. Then we cycled over the mountain that runs though the center of Korcula and down to the sea at Stuparine where we swam and Ursula and Ziva prepared a tasty picnic lunch of local cheeses, tomatoes, peppers and bread plus dried fruit and nuts. Along the way we passed vineyards lush with young grapes and saw stunning views of the Adratic.

After lunch we cycled back to Korcula and then on to the ferry. We ended the day with a refreshing swim and dinner at the beach front hotel where we are staying for the next 3 days, Hotel Indijan. We are writing this from the balcony of our room, overlooking the sea and listening to the waves wash over the stoney beach (unfortunately, sandy beaches in Croatia are few and far between).
